The Sandusky County Health Department is announcing two H1N1 vaccination clinics to be held Monday, November 30, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., and Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 3 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Both clinics will be held at the Flower Building, Sandusky County Fairgrounds, Fremont, OH.  It is important to note that the doors of the clinic will not open until the scheduled start time, and we have sufficient supply of vaccine for the duration of these clinics.

This clinic is only for those that fall into the priority groups set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and the Ohio Department of Health.  These target groups include:

Ø  pregnant women

Ø  people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age

Ø  direct healthcare workers and emergency medical services personnel

Ø  persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old

Ø  people ages 25 through 64 years of age who are at higher risk for 2009 H1N1 because of chronic health disorders or compromised immune systems.

Those children age 6 months through age 9 that received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine on or before November 1 can receive their second dose at this clinic.

Some residents may have pre-registered through the Ohio Department of Health website.  This registration will not guarantee receipt of the vaccine over any other individuals.

Individuals attending the clinics should dress in layers, with short sleeves available for ease of vaccination; there will be no privacy.

There will be no cost for the vaccine.

Remember, the number one way to prevent flu, is frequent hand washing.

If you have any questions regarding the H1N1 influenza vaccination please contact the Sandusky County Health Department at 419-334-6377.
