Teen pregnancy emerged as a top health
priority in Sandusky County according to a Community Health Assessment
conducted by Health Partners 2000. In an effort to reduce the teen
pregnancy rate in Ohio, Wellness Block Grant funds for teen pregnancy
prevention became available in 1997 through the Family and Children
First Council. Teen Pregnancy Prevention Advisory Group (TPPAG) was formed to assist with planning and to provide advice on
issues related to teen pregnancy prevention. Through a contract
arrangement with the Sandusky County Health Department, a teen pregnancy
prevention coordinator was hired to work on planning and the
implementation of a countywide prevention effort.
